These results are based on information obtained from animal and clinical tests and considering the types of cosmetic products and the concentrations of them mentioned in this article.

In another report from the panel in the year 1983, it was stated that benzophenone -2, -6 and -8 are also not mutagenic and genotoxic (compounds that damage DNA) and can also be used.

The results of the National Toxicology Program (NTP) studies regarding the carcinogenicity of benzophenones in the oral cavity have also been ambiguous. As a result, there is no specific concern about the potential carcinogenicity of benzophenones when used in cosmetic and personal care products.
