While the country is under sanctions, the company «Pakname» has managed to generate significant revenue and create employment opportunities through the production of cleaning products; of course, the executives of this company have bigger dreams in mind.

This well-known company, which has a long history in the cleaning industry, has found its place as a reputable brand in the households both domestically and abroad by producing standardized and export-oriented products, and is constantly striving to improve the quality of its products to attract the satisfaction of its customers.

On the occasion of National Export Day, we visited Dr. Javad Rad-Saeed, the insightful CEO of Pakname, a veteran in the industry and national production, and recounted the performance of this collection through the words of this industrial elite.

Dr. Javad Rad-Saeed initially touched on the history of the company he manages and said: The Pakname manufacturing company, which was previously known as «Snow», was established in the spring of 1962 by a group of experienced industrialists in the cleaning industry in the Sa'adat Abad area of Tehran and became one of the first washing powder factories in the Middle East and, a year later, the first product of this company, under the name of «Toofan» washing powder, was launched to the market.

He continued: After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the company's name changed from Snow to Pakname, and alongside the beginning of the reconstruction era and in response to the growing need for cleaning products, this company, aiming to help improve the health and hygiene standards of society, established its new factory with an annual nominal capacity of over 120,000 tons on an area of 22 hectares in the Bouin Zahra region near Qazvin, using the most modern technology available in the world's washing powder production industry and collaborating with experienced European engineers.

Dr. Rad-Saeed referred to the diversity of Pakname's products and said: Currently, more than 350 types of products are produced at Pakname in the fields of various manual and machine washing powders, dishwashing liquids, laundry and clothing stain removers and whiteners, laundry and bath soaps, hair shampoos, etc. with the best quality and adherence to necessary standards under the brands of Yekta, Top, Di, Aran, Rams, Ba Madad, Ara, Ocean, and Tan.

This successful industrial manager announced the production of a new product and added that Pakname, as the first domestic producer, has added a jelly capsule laundry detergent branded «Tan» to its product line and launched it to the market since the beginning of this year.

The laundry liquid «Tan» increases the lifespan of clothes and the machine.

He explained the features of this new product, stating that environmental standards have been followed in its production, it consumes very little water, and due to its good compatibility with clothing and washing machines, it leads to an increase in the lifespan of both clothes and the machine, which is favorable for the end consumer and is also very cost-effective in terms of energy consumption. This exemplary exporter added that the production of raw materials for the cleaning industry is another product of Pakname, which is used in the production of powders and liquids and is exported to various countries in case of surplus supply to the domestic market.

The CEO of Pakname stated that this company is actively present in international markets and noted: Pakname's products, in addition to supplying the domestic market, have been exported significantly to various countries for years, and we now have continuous exports to more than 15 countries. The names of the brands Rams, Di, and Yekta are well-known among many families in numerous regional markets.

Rad-Saeed stated that Pakname holds 12% of the country's export share in the cleaning industry and said: The average monthly export volume of Pakname products is 3,000 tons, worth approximately $900,000, which has increased in the year 2023 compared to the same period last year, and this trend has been maintained this year as well.

We are one of the main suppliers of manual washing powder in the country.

He noted that Pakname, as one of the top five companies in the cleaning industry, holds 10% of the country's powder market share and is currently one of the main suppliers of manual washing powders in the country. Rad-Saeed explained the distinguishing features of Pakname products compared to other competitors, stating that the presence of appropriate infrastructure, effective and efficient processes, access to an experienced and skilled technical and engineering team, advanced laboratory systems, and a strong quality assurance framework are among the strengths of Pakname, which have collectively enabled us to produce high-quality products at reasonable prices that meet customer needs. The CEO of Pakname remarked on the company’s development plans, stating: Given the suitable space of the factory, we intend to establish Pakname 2 as part of our development plan and significantly increase the production capacity of industrial products.

This exemplary exporter referred to the employment opportunities created at Pakname and stated that currently more than 400 people are directly employed in this enterprise, and considering the extensive network of representatives in the country and connections with various industries, the total employment figure created indirectly is impressive.

Rad-Saeed further elaborated on the main challenges in the production sector: Despite the yearly slogans set forth by the Supreme Leader, these slogans are not fully implemented in practice, and industrialists and producers are facing significant difficulties; we expect policymakers and senior officials to create suitable conditions for production.

He emphasized that the macroeconomic, political, and regional conditions also directly affect the production process and added that fluctuations in the exchange rate have negative effects on production, making all materials and supplies, both domestic and imported, subject to changes that pose serious challenges for producers. The CEO of Pakname highlighted: Given the contractionary policies adopted by banks in recent years, the issue of liquidity is another significant problem that has severely affected industrialists; various laws that are enacted and announced sometimes act as deterrents and are not compatible with the current conditions of the production industry.

Deterrent laws must be removed from the production path.

Rad-Saeed pointed to the problems in the export sector and said: Various issues including sanctions, money transfers, fulfilling currency obligations, the absence of suitable transportation infrastructure, which often has seasonal restrictions, and adding transport costs, as well as customs rates that sometimes do not match the actual value of products, are among the challenges faced by exporters and have made it very difficult to carry out exports under current conditions.

The CEO of Pakname noted that in the past, most focuses and efforts were in the areas of energy and human resources, but the reality is that these resources have turned from competitive advantages into challenges, and currently, there are significant issues in various areas of energy and human resources, which raise concerns about the future.

Rad-Saeed emphasized the good collaboration of provincial officials with this enterprise and said: Fortunately, the province's approach is to facilitate matters, and the executive bodies have a good partnership and engagement with this enterprise; however, sometimes the issues are at a macro level that cannot be pursued and resolved at the provincial level.

This successful industrial manager pointed to the future outlook of Pakname and said last year, the challenges in the industry and the lack of resources led to a halt in production processes; however, this year the company’s production capacity has significantly increased, and we hope this trend continues until the end of the year so that we can rank among the top three brands in the country in the next five years based on the strategies and vision we have outlined.

He noted another achievement of Pakname stating that in 2020, which coincided with the global outbreak of the coronavirus, the cleaning industry had the honor to work alongside the healthcare staff and supply the country’s cleaning products, and contrary to many other industries that faced challenges, fortunately, we didn’t experience a decline or lack of cleaning products and, with appropriate planning, we were able to successfully navigate that year as well.

Finally, the CEO of Pakname referred to the significant achievements this company has earned and stated: In recent years, Pakname has consistently improved its product quality, earning the prestigious title of the exemplary quality control manager of the country in 2017 and 2015, receiving a plaque from the National Standard Organization of Iran, obtaining a certificate for consumer rights protection in 2013 and 2012, being titled as an exemplary exporter in the cleaning industry in 2019, 2016, 2015, and 2012, and winning the golden trophy of the sixth national health-oriented industry festival, which has granted a special place to this company.
