Polyurethane Timing Belt

Polyurethane wire-reinforced belts with teeth including: T2.5 – T5 – AT5 – T10 -AT10 -T20 – AT20, are used in both open and closed circuit applications.

This type of timing belt has very good wear resistance. The hardness of polyurethane timing is usually 86A. Other features include good resistance to acids, alkaline compounds, and various industrial oils.

The wires used in these timing belts are made of steel, aramid, polyester, and cord, which varies depending on the type of use in the relevant industry. For example, the steel wires used in polyurethane timing belts are made from thin, galvanized wire strands twisted together, and the flexibility and strength of these wires depend on their diameter and specifications.

Polyurethane belt, also known as bone belt, is made of polyurethane as its name suggests, and is produced with high durability in various shapes, similar to a regular belt, namely A, B, C, and sometimes with a grip coating or a crown-like coating, and in some cases without coating.

Polyurethane belts are made from thermoplastic polyurethane with metal wires made of steel and are suitable for power transmission systems. They are produced in various pitches and sizes and have the following properties:

Resistance of polyurethane belts to wear and resistance to ozone, oil, and grease. Operating temperature range from 25 to 80 degrees Celsius and for short periods up to 110 degrees Celsius. Polyurethane belts require no maintenance.

During the installation of the timing belt, it is very important that the belt is fully seated in the grooves of the pulleys before applying the final tension. Worm drives with multiple pulleys and drives with large pulleys are particularly vulnerable to timing belt tensioning issues, as the teeth of the belt may only partially engage in the pulleys during installation.

To prevent these issues, the installation tension of the timing belt should be evenly distributed across all spans of the belt by rotating the system. After confirming the correct positioning of the timing belt teeth in the pulley grooves, the tension of the timing belt should be rechecked and confirmed. Failure to do so may result in a stressed condition of the timing belt.

Closed Circuit Timing Belt

Closed circuit timing belts are used in various machines with precise and controlled movements and high speeds, operating without issues in a temperature range of minus 25 to plus 80 degrees Celsius. They have exceptional resistance to oil, grease, and fat. Closed circuit timing belts can be made from various materials such as plastic, polyurethane, rubber, and more.

Rubber closed circuit timing belts are made from rubber compounds and cotton fibers. In closed circuit timing belts, the rubber closed circuit timing belt with various inch and millimeter pitches allows for diversity in manufacturing and applications.

Closed circuit polyurethane timing belts are made from thermoplastic polyurethane with metal wires made of steel and are suitable for power transmission systems. Closed circuit polyurethane timing belts require no maintenance. Additionally, these closed circuit timing belts are resistant to wear, oil, and grease.

Closed circuit rubber timing belts are suitable for use in various industrial equipment due to their heat resistance and greater flexibility compared to closed circuit polyurethane timing belts. The materials used in closed circuit timing belts are made of polyurethane, with twisted wires included to enhance tensile strength.

Additionally, the standard production widths and various pitches of closed circuit timing belts increase the selection options.

Open Circuit Timing Belt

Open circuit timing belts are made from rubber (open circuit rubber timing belt) or open circuit polyurethane with special compounds. This type of timing belt is produced with different pitches and various tooth profiles and materials depending on their usage. The efficiency of open circuit timing belts is in machines where power transmission is carried out with greater precision and speed.

The precise movement of the open circuit timing belt pitch will result in a smooth and slip-free operation.

Open circuit timing belts can be made from rubber or thermoplastic polyurethane, in which fiberglass wires and threads are used. In machines that want to transfer materials or any produced items to another stage, open circuit timing belts are used.

For example, in the food industry for transferring food materials, in the glass industry for transferring glass, and in the tile and ceramic industry for transferring to various sections, open circuit timing belts are utilized.

For installing open circuit timing belts, two clamps can be used to create a linear movement for back-and-forth material transfer, or the two ends of the open circuit timing belt can be connected in a specific way (joint) to rotate and transfer materials.
