Storage Conditions:

Store away from light, moisture, and at temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius.

Side Effects:

Allergic reactions (skin rashes), dry mouth, severe thirst, irregular heartbeat, muscle cramps, nausea or vomiting, fatigue or severe drowsiness, stomach pain or burning, unusual bruising or bleeding, black and tarry stools, red spots on the skin, blood in urine or stool, joint pain, back pain, yellowing of the eyes or skin.

Drug Interactions:

Blood pressure lowering medications

Other potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, medications containing potassium (Penicillin G injectable), Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (Captopril)

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Indomethacin or Ibuprofen

Chlordiazepoxide

Insulin or Sulfonylureas

Lithium

Cholestyramine

Dosing:

The healthcare provider will determine the dosage; however, the usual dosage is as follows.

1-2 tablets twice a day

In some patients, the maintenance dose may be prescribed as one tablet daily or every other day.

If the medication is prescribed to be taken once daily, it should be taken after breakfast, and if it is to be taken more than once a day, the last dose should be taken before 6 PM.
