A Venturi flow element is a device used to measure the flow rate of a fluid. It operates on the principle of the Venturi effect, which states that as the velocity of a fluid increases, its pressure decreases. This phenomenon is commonly utilized in various applications, including fluid measurement and fluid control systems.

Key Components and Working Principle:

Converging Section: The fluid enters the Venturi through a converging section, which narrows the flow path. As the cross-sectional area decreases, the fluid velocity increases, causing a drop in pressure.
Throat: This is the narrowest part of the Venturi. The fluid reaches its maximum velocity here, and the pressure is at its lowest.
Diverging Section: After the throat, the flow expands again. This allows the fluid to slow down and the pressure to recover partially.

Flow Measurement:

To measure the flow rate, pressure taps are placed at the inlet and at the throat of the Venturi. The difference in pressure (known as the differential pressure) between these two points is used to calculate the flow rate using Bernoulli’s equation and the continuity equation.

Advantages:
