Please tell us what products you will introduce to customers and visitors at this Iran Plast exhibition?

The mission of Parsa Polymer is to provide a comprehensive option in the field of raw materials for our customers and partner companies. The aim is to address customer concerns regarding quality and to actually create a balance between quality and price. We have had an innovation center for several years and are actively working on developing various products. We have several new products at the exhibition. One of them is a material that a producer can use to change color during injection and compounding, which quickly cleans the cylinder and significantly increases the speed of product transition and changes in the production process. It is one of our special products, and of course, we have also introduced other products.

What is your production capacity per year, your market share in the country, and your export share of your productions?

Parsa Polymer Sharif has significantly increased its capacity in recent years and has reached a real capacity of over 25,000 tons. We have a good share in the technology product market, and as I said, we have made efforts to address customer concerns.

What are the three major challenges in polymer industries?

Polymer industries face many challenges, but the first challenge is the state of raw material supply, which is very chaotic. For example, in the polyethylene sector, you see that the supply price in the stock market is a good price and is often lower than the global price, but in a series of products like polypropylene, the raw materials are more expensive than the global market, while it is considered the most important material in the compounding field. This imbalance in raw material supply is the main dilemma. The second dilemma relates to exports, where laws and regulations are changing rapidly, and there is always anxiety and concern about exports for us. The third issue is the economic stability of the country and sudden currency fluctuations, making future planning difficult. On the one hand, they try to inject currency in a regulatory manner, which is highly inflationary.

Predictability of the economic situation is a very important matter. We do not expect and should not expect currency prices to be stable, but there should be a relationship with inflation.

Another point is the limited interaction with the world, which imposes high costs on exports. In international agreements and in preferential tariff matters, we practically have no place and are always at least 5 percent behind our competitors in terms of tariffs. Our logistics costs are very high, and many times the product price is highly competitive without considering logistics, but when this cost is added, we lose the market.

What impact do specialized exhibitions have on your market development? What is your possible critique of Iran Plast and your suggestions for future editions?

Specialized exhibitions are just a very good opportunity for suppliers and customers to see each other up close. It is a space and opportunity for more serious interaction. However, I believe there is no necessity for the Iran Plast exhibition to be held every year. I suggest it should take place every two or three years. Unfortunately, it has progressed in such a way that there are interests created in holding this exhibition that some wish to hold it every year. It incurs a lot of costs for companies, whereas we see that most exhibitions around the world are held every two or three years. In any case, we have to be optimistic about our economic activities; otherwise, we should consider shutting down.

How do you assess the economic outlook of the new government and its effects on your business?

I hope that the current government, which at least shows more rationality in their speech than the previous government, will succeed. One part relates to their performance and interactions and whether they can be allowed to work and ultimately have a closer relationship with the community. They should reduce the gap between the government and the people. I hope they can also reduce tensions on the international level, although the opposing side is very decisive and has more weight than us.
